Dr. Samuels is the director of Bohannon Incorporated. Errol has had a distinguished career in Finance and Business, both as a corporate executive and an academician. Born in Jamaica, he spent some of his formative years in the USA and the UK, and currently resides in Tallahassee, Florida.
A graduate of Excelsior High school in Kingston, Jamaica, he attended Rutgers University in New Jersey, obtaining an undergraduate degree in Economics and an MBA in Professional Accounting. Later on, he obtained a Doctorate in Business Administration. He worked for many years as Comptroller and Finance Director for two Fortune 500 companies, in their overseas subsidiaries. During this time he was responsible for Human Resource Management and other Administrative functions, in addition to overseeing all aspects of Accounting, Financial Reporting, Budgeting, and Treasury. He also served as CFO for Neighborhood Medical Center, a Federally-funded non-profit clinic in Tallahassee, Florida for over sixteen years, retiring in December 2019.
He had earlier embarked on a teaching career at the University level in 2003 and taught at Keiser University, in Florida, at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. He also served as Program Director for the MBA program at the Tallahassee campus of Keiser University. His areas of teaching specialty were Financial and Managerial Accounting, International Business, Human Resource Management, Leadership, and Organizational Behaviour and Change. He also worked as Adjunct Professor at Florida A&M University, teaching classes in Financial and Managerial Accounting. He retired from teaching in 2019.
Dr Samuels has published two books. The first is autobiographical, outlining the first three decades of his life, and is entitled "The Triangle Route." His second book published in 2015 is entitled "Terrorism: A Paradigm Shift in Corporate Risk Management." This book deals with the emerging risk of terrorism and suggests modalities on how corporate managers can best handle this element of risk.
Dr Samuels is married and has two adult children. His younger son who has a degree in Criminal Justice works for the State of Florida. His daughter is a Board certified OB/GYN and currently practices in Virginia. His eldest son passed away in 2019. He enjoys getting his hands dirty doing back-yard gardening. His wife is the creative one. He does the grunt work. He likes listening to Jazz, Classical, and Reggae music and has an extensive musical collection. He is a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church and does Prison Ministry, among his other functions as a Deacon at his church. He has worked as a missionary in Ethiopia and does fund raising work for the Adventist church in Addis Ababa, from his base in the USA. He is currently researching the post colonial experience of African countries and also does research in theology, specifically on the underlying concepts of the Abrahamic religions.
